OUR STORY

​

The story of Iphis Jewels all begins with my lifelong obsession with gemstones and flowers:) Those childhood moments of sneaking into my mother's jewellery box, or picking from the abundance of peonies and hydrangea in her garden, definitely influenced me to grow up with a love for stones, metal and flowers that I took with me everywhere I went.

Because it felt like home. 

While in college for jewellery and metalsmithing, I focused on learning techniques that could portray botanical elements of nature in metal, however more recently I'm also enjoying the discovery of how much these same botanical aspects develop naturally within gemstones. Sometimes it's as simple as a shared colour palette, and other times it's actual images of trees, ferns and flowers naturally formed in different mineral inclusions within the stone. 

I find that in my travels, I also seek out flowers, plants and stones as a way to learn about that environment. Adornment is one way of respecting and appreciating nature. It provides a glimpse into the heart of the people and place, and both the making and wearing of it opens up the way for deeper connections and relationships. 

Whether it's a lei to celebrate a graduation, a pair of earrings to commemorate an anniversary, or a beautiful arrangement of flowers to welcome guests as they enter your home, all of these things are the sharing of beauty that captures a moment, expresses an intention or feeling, and turns into a lasting memory of something meaningful.
